Conservation advocate Reggie Paros, a fifth-generation Floridian, is running as a Democrat for Congress in Florida’s 13th Congressional District. Paros launched his campaign by saying he will focus on lowering costs, boosting wages and improving safety for Pinellas County residents. He criticized U. S. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, the Republican incumbent, for supporting policies he said favor “the very rich and big corporations” over local families. Luna has already raised $1. 39 million in her re-election bid. Two other Democratic candidates, Jeffrey Moore and Earle Ford, have filed to run for the seat as well, though neither have reported any funds raised. “I’m running for Congress to help the people of Pinellas make more money, spend less, and stay safe,” Paros said in a statement. “I’ll fight to cut costs, raise wages, and make sure people can build real wealth and live safely in the community they love,” he added. “Too many leaders in Washington are chasing attention instead of doing their jobs. That’s not who I am, and that’s not what Pinellas needs. Safety, stability, and security that’s what families are asking for, and that’s what I’ll fight for every day in Congress.” Paros previously worked in emergency management and later joined former U. S. Rep. David Jolly’s Office, where he handled issues including beach renourishment, fisheries and Social Security. Paros has spent the past decade working on flooding, offshore drilling and water-quality issues across the state. If elected, Paros said he will push to curb tariffs he argues drive up consumer prices, offer tax relief to renters, support a higher minimum wage, expand assistance for first-time homebuyers and strengthen flood insurance and infrastructure. “This campaign is about the people of Pinellas,” Paros said. “It’s about giving every family the chance to build a good life.”.
