No, HBO’s ‘Harry Potter’ Series Will Not Have A Narrator

HBO‘s Harry Potter series has generated its fair share of myths in recent months, but here’s one we can dispel: it will not have a narrator.

There has been chatter on Harry Potter forums, aggregator accounts, and in the British media about an actor presiding over the series from a recording booth. The rumor appears to have originated on the blog Redanian Intelligence, which claimed that British actor Tom Turner (Beauty and the Beast) had been cast as series narrator.

Turner’s voice agency touts his “rich” and “luxurious” tones, but HBO sources have confirmed that narration will not be part of the Potter series, which is scheduled to premiere in 2027.

Filming has been ongoing for months in the UK on the Harry Potter series, which will star Dominic McLaughlin as the titular Hogwarts wizard. Alastair Stout will play Harry’s best friend Ron Weasley, and Arabella Stanton will round out the trio of heroes as bookworm Hermione Granger.

Other cast members include Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Professor McGonagall, and Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape.
