**MobileX Steps Up to Support Customers Affected by SNAP Benefit Pause During Government Shutdown**
Times are difficult for many U.S. citizens who have lost their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits due to the current government shutdown. Known as SNAP, this program provides low-income households with food stamps that help pay for groceries. Now, these families are being forced to scrape together money that might have gone to other bills in order to afford food. This financial strain makes it tough for some impacted families to keep their wireless service active.
**Is Peter Adderton a Hero?**
Peter Adderton, founder and CEO of MobileX, is stepping up in a way that puts people over profits. While some may argue he’s using this opportunity to promote MobileX, the positive impact of his actions is clear. Whether or not he’s labeled a hero, he is definitely doing something good.
**MobileX Offers Free Wireless Service to Customers Impacted by SNAP Benefit Loss**
This past Tuesday, MobileX announced that it will cover the cost of its customized wireless service for customers who have lost access to federal food assistance. MobileX customers who are no longer receiving SNAP benefits will get unlimited talk and text, plus up to 2GB of data per month—for as long as their SNAP benefits remain paused.
It’s important to note that this offer does not apply to the $14.88 or $24.88 Unlimited plans available to new customers. Those already on MobileX plans will have their current plan costs covered during the disruption of SNAP benefits. Everyday plan options begin as low as $3.48 per month (prices exclude applicable taxes and government surcharges).
**How to Access the MobileX Service**
Subscribers can build their own custom 5G plan by downloading the MobileX app on Android or iOS devices. By selecting the “Build Your Own” tab, users only pay for the 5G data they need—no need to speak to a representative or visit a store. Activation takes just minutes, and according to MobileX, customers gain access to one of the fastest 5G networks in America.
Customers can also sign up for MobileX on mymobilex.com or Walmart.com, and can join in person at over 3,700 Walmart stores nationwide.
MobileX subscribers can choose to get a new phone number or port their current number to MobileX to access the free wireless service. To verify SNAP participation and receive this benefit, new and existing customers can create a support ticket through the MobileX app or call customer care at 833-422-1053.
**A Call to Industry Leaders**
Peter Adderton, who founded Boost Mobile in 2000, is challenging larger carriers — AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile — to take similar action and help those in need. Adderton stated, “At the end of the day, no one else is doing it. Why aren’t T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon doing it? They all should be doing it. We’re probably the least financially strong compared to the other guys, but we’re still willing to do it. I’m hoping to get the rest of the industry to join me.”
While some critics refer to this initiative as a publicity stunt, Adderton acknowledged that promotion is part of any business endeavor. However, he emphasized the humanitarian principle behind MobileX’s actions: “We are authentic and we do care. If people want to put that down as a promotional opportunity, fine. Call it whatever you like. It’s free.”
**What Are Other Carriers Doing?**
In response to the shutdown, Verizon has offered payment deferrals to first responders, military personnel, Coast Guard members, and other federal employees affected by the government closure. AT&T provides postpaid payment deferral options to customers worried about paying bills on time. T-Mobile stated to Fierce Wireless: “As always, our customers are at the center of everything we do, and we’ll continue to look after them, making sure they stay connected to what matters most.”
**MobileX’s Network Advantage**
MobileX customers use Verizon’s 4G LTE and 5G network. For enhanced experience, MobileX offers an option called the “Gold Network,” which provides subscribers with higher data priority on Verizon’s network.
