Diablo 4: How to farm Grim Favors efficiently

Diablo 4 offers Grim Favors (Whispers of the Dead) as a fantastic way to farm exp, while also getting piles of equipment, gems, and other useful rewards. It’s a very simple system, where your map will show quests/objectives that give you Grim Favors. These are from the Whispers of the Dead icons on the map. There are quite a few ways to approach doing these too, depending on the style of player you are. Personally, I prioritize larger Grim Favor objectives in Diablo 4 that don’t take a lot of effort, such as Dungeons, The Pit, or Blood Maiden. You only need ten Grim Favors for your rewards, so with a solid clearing build, you can farm these nice and easy. How to quickly farm Grim Favors in Diablo 4 In Diablo 4, when you have 10 Grim Favors you can go to the Tree of Whispers, or any town that features a Raven, and turn them in for a reward. This means they’re definitely worth grinding, especially if you’re after gear in a particular slot. But how do you get Grim Favors quickly and easily in D4? The following in-game events, when they are offered as Grim Favors, are the best picks: Dungeons: 5 Grim Favors Blood Maiden/World Bosses: 5 Grim Favors The Pit: 5 Grim Favors Infernal Hordes: 5 Grim Favors My preference is to open up the map and check for any dungeon Grim Favor, because those give 5. I also then target Blood Maiden if it’s up and is offering a Grim Favor, because it also gives 5. The same goes for The Pit, Infernal Hordes, and similar activities. I look for objectives with larger numbers that are easily completed. If a World Boss is up, that’s another easy 5 Grim Favors, so go out of your way to do those. As far as the regular, smaller rewards, look for Grim Favors that are connected to the current season (Seal Chaos Rifts in Season 10, for example), as those tend to give around ~3 Grim Favors. Seething Abomination in the PVP area is another free 5 Grim Favors, and worth doing. However, make sure the event you’re about to do is actually a Grim Favor event by checking the icon on the map. There are always Grim Favor events going in Helltides as well. I prioritize the quick, easy ones, like “slay x enemies” or “lead animals to x”, anything I can quickly track and complete. These are nice, and often short, but I prefer the big payouts over doing the smaller Grim Favor events in Diablo 4. Remember that even if you go over 10 Grim Favors, the excess will roll over, so your time isn’t wasted. Just look for the Pink/Red icons on the map and see which benefit you and the time you want to spend the most. What to do about “Grim Favors not showing up” bug Occasionally, people report a “Grim Favors not showing up” bug in Diablo 4, but it’s not something we see too often here. There’s also no one fix in particular. Perhaps the most important thing you can do is make sure you aren’t at 10 Grim Favors already. If you are, they become greyed out, and you might overlook that on the map. If you’re in couch co-op mode, ensure you’re both on the same map doing the same content. Co-op is known to have bugs and other things that make it feel unplayable. Also, you might want to check your filters on your map. You can turn off Whispers of the Dead, which are your Grim Favors. That is a common thing that happens, whether intentionally or accidentally. In the past, players also changed World Tiers/Difficulties after filling up the Grim Favors bar, and then going to turn them in. If you tried this, drop (or raise) the difficulty back to where it was, then go turn in your Grim Favors at the Tree of Whispers, or any of the other locations.
