Obituary for Audrey P. Chelette

Audrey P. Chelette A Mass of Christian Burial for Audrey P. Chelette will be held at 12: 30 PM on Monday, December 1, 2025, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Echo, LA., with Rev. Dwight de Jesus presiding. Entombment will follow in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church Mausoleum under the direction of Kramer of Fifth Ward. Visitation will be held from 9: 00 AM until 12: 00 PM on Monday, December 1, 2025, at Kramer of Fifth Ward. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 11: 30 AM on Monday, December 1, 2025, in the Kramer Chapel. Audrey is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Stanley Chelette; father, Sylvan Ponthieux; mother, Mary Ponthieux; brother, Daniel Ponthieux; and great-grandson, Bentley Gremillion. Audrey Chelette, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home in Echo, Louisiana, Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the age of 91. For many years, Audrey worked alongside her husband, Stanley, in the dairy business before opening Quality Cake Shop, which she proudly owned and operated for 20 years. She will be fondly remembered for the beautiful and delicious cakes she created with such love and care. Audrey also cherished cooking for her family, especially during the holidays, and bringing everyone together on Wednesday nights to enjoy her famous fried chicken. Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Ricky Chelette (Millie); two daughters, Karen Deville (Danny) and Peggy Gremillion (Glenn); ten grandchildren, Bobby Chelette (Melanie), Jody Chelette (Candace), Nikki Gremillion Aducci (CJ), Travis Gremillion, Jamey Chelette (Lacy), Kyle Deville (Charlotte), Casey Gremillion (Katelyn), Scotty Gremillion, Paige Deville (fiancé Jacob) and Robin Chelette McCalister (Riley); along with 20 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers honored to serve will be her grandsons. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to St. Joseph Hospice especially Katelyn Gremillion for her compassion and dedication; her loyal sitters Sue Champagne, Cindy Dauzat, Nikki Chenevert, Ronda Blaney, and Rhonda Frost. A special thanks to Big John’s Meats A & B Meat Co. for delivering her delicious meals daily. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation made in memory of Audrey P.
