Ex-Sixers Guard Faces Disturbing Allegations in Leaked Affidavit

Former Philadelphia 76ers guard Patrick Beverley is facing disturbing allegations in Texas, according to an affidavit obtained by TMZ Sports, accusing him of choking and punching his younger sister during a late-night confrontation. Beverley, who played for the Sixers during the 2023-24 NBA season, denies the claims and says the incident has been misrepresented. Beverley, 37, was arrested in Fort Bend County, Texas, and charged with third-degree felony assault involving a family or household member by impeding breath-one of the most serious domestic-violence charges under Texas law. Affidavit Alleges Violent Confrontation Inside Family Home According to TMZ Sports, the incident took place on Nov. 14, when Beverley’s sister allegedly left home without permission to meet her boyfriend at a nearby park. When she returned home, her mother instructed her to call the boyfriend back to the residence-and then called Beverley. The affidavit states that after Beverley arrived, he confronted his sister before allegedly grabbing her by the neck with both hands and lifting her off the ground, causing her feet to leave the floor. Beverley’s sister told investigators the pressure made her feel pain and made it difficult to breathe. She further claimed Beverley dragged her out of the bedroom by the neck, slammed her into the hallway walls, placed her on a sofa, and punched her in the left eye with a closed fist. She also alleged Beverley threatened her, saying he would be the “family relative to kill her.” Police responding to the scene reported visible neck marks and petechiae-burst blood vessels-in her eyes, often associated with strangulation. Beverley was arrested and booked into Fort Bend County Jail. Beverley Pushes Back: ‘Don’t Believe Everything You See Online’ After posting $40,000 bail, Beverley took to X to challenge the narrative. “Please don’t believe everything you see on the internet. Hope all is well Luv❤️🙏🏾,” he wrote. His attorney later issued a longer statement defending him: “Patrick Beverley has no criminal record. He cares deeply about his little sister a minor,” the statement read. “When he unexpectedly found her alone in the home with an 18-year-old man in the middle of the night, he reacted as any protective brother would. However, we don’t believe what followed happened the way it’s been described. We look forward to addressing this in court.” Beverley is expected to appear before a judge in the coming weeks. Former Sixers Guard Has Had Recent Controversies Before his arrest, Beverley made headlines for a controversial podcast exchange in which he and former NBA player Jason Williams referenced Klay Thompson’s girlfriend, rapper Megan Thee Stallion, using crude language. Thompson later blasted the comments as “disgusting and disturbing.” Beverley also faced a civil lawsuit stemming from an altercation during the 2024 playoffs, when-while playing for the Milwaukee Bucks-he threw a basketball into the stands and struck a fan. The NBA suspended him for four games, which he has not yet served. Beverley’s Philadelphia Tenure Beverley played 47 games for the 76ers during the 2023-24 season, averaging 6. 3 points, 3. 1 rebounds and 3. 1 assists, while shooting 32. 1% from three. His short stint with the Sixers included a pair of big games a career-high-tying 26 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, and two steals in a 125-116 loss to the Boston Celtics and a season-high 11 assists and 17 points against the Denver Nuggets. He quickly became a vocal presence in Philadelphia’s locker room and on social media before being traded to the Bucks in February last year.
