A nighttime phenomenon: Northern Lights visible Tuesday night across parts of North Carolina

On Tuesday, WRAL News received multiple reports of the aurora borealis visible in parts of North Carolina.

Meteorologist Chris Michaels explained that the stunning display is due to a pair of coronal mass ejections (CMEs) heading toward Earth. These solar events are producing the aurora farther south than usual, allowing residents in North Carolina to witness this natural light show.

Stay tuned for updates on space weather and any potential impacts these solar activities may have.
