Dodgers’ Yoshinobu Yamamoto wins World Series MVP

The Los Angeles Dodgers made a shrewd move to up the ante and sign Yoshinobu Yamamoto before the 2024 season, giving their rotation the extra oomph it needed for a deep playoff run. The investment paid off in a big way for the second straight season.

Yamamoto won three games in the World Series, including a crucial victory in Game 7, helping the Dodgers capture back-to-back championships. In the decisive Game 7 against the Toronto Blue Jays, Yamamoto was thrust into a tough situation in the bottom of the ninth inning but held strong under pressure.

He pitched 2.2 innings in that game, allowing only one hit and walking one batter. He also induced the game-ending double play as the Dodgers secured a 5-4 win in 11 innings. For his outstanding performance, Yamamoto was named the World Series MVP.

“I was not sure if I could pitch tonight when I went to the bullpen, but I’m glad I was able to,” Yamamoto told FOX’s Kevin Burkhardt after the game.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was jubilant after the victory, proclaiming, “Yamamoto’s the GOAT.”

The Dodgers leaned heavily on Yamamoto throughout the series. In Game 6, he delivered six strong innings, striking out six batters and allowing just one run while throwing 96 pitches, helping the Dodgers secure another win.

Yamamoto also showcased his dominance in Game 2, pitching a complete game where he allowed only one run on four hits and struck out eight.

With Yamamoto’s stellar contributions, the Dodgers solidified their spot as back-to-back World Series champions, thrilling their fans with an epic Game 7 victory over the Blue Jays.
