India Expresses Support for President Trump’s Efforts to Bring Lasting Peace to the Middle East

India has expressed strong support for President Donald Trump’s efforts to achieve lasting peace in the Middle East. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media platform X to commend the recent release of all hostages held for over two years, calling their freedom “a tribute to the courage of their families, the unwavering peace efforts of President Trump, and the strong resolve of Prime Minister Netanyahu.”

“We support President Trump’s sincere efforts to bring peace to the region,” PM Modi stated.

Earlier, on October 4, PM Modi had reaffirmed India’s commitment to supporting all initiatives aimed at securing a durable and just peace in the Middle East.

“We welcome President Trump’s leadership as peace efforts in Gaza make decisive progress. Indications of the release of hostages mark a significant step forward. India will continue to strongly support all efforts towards a durable and just peace,” he had said.

Hostages Released by Hamas

In a significant development, Hamas released all 20 living hostages on Monday as part of the Gaza peace plan. Prior to the release of the final 13, seven hostages had already been transferred to the Red Cross.

The released hostages include:

Elkana Bohbot, Avinatan Or, Yosef-Haim Ohana, Evyatar David, Rom Braslavski, Segev Kalfon, Nimrod Cohen, Maxim Herkin, Eitan Horn, Matan Zangauker, Bar Kupershtein, David Cunio, Ariel Cunio, Gali, Ziv Berman, Matan Angrest, Alon Ohel, Omri Miran, Eitan Mor, and Guy Gilboa-Dallal.

The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) confirmed that the remaining 13 hostages were freed by Hamas and were being escorted back to Israel by personnel from the IDF and the Israel Security Agency (ISA) after being handed over to the Red Cross in Khan Younis, southern Gaza.

Official End to Two-Year Conflict

Monday also marked the formal end of the two-year war that began on October 7, 2023. The conflict started following Hamas attacks that claimed over 1,200 Israeli lives and resulted in the abduction of 251 people.

Recognition of President Trump’s Role

During a historic session of the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, Prime Minister Netanyahu nominated President Trump for the prestigious Israel Prize. Netanyahu praised Trump as “the greatest friend that Israel has ever had in the White House,” highlighting his role in brokering the ceasefire, recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, relocating the US embassy, and supporting Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights.

This recognition underscores the significant impact of President Trump’s policies and peace efforts in the region.

India continues to stand firmly behind efforts that promote peace, stability, and justice across the Middle East.
