In Match 11 of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 held in Guwahati, Brooke Halliday played a crucial innings to help New Zealand recover from a precarious position and set a solid platform against Bangladesh.
Halliday walked in to bat when the White Ferns were struggling at 38/3. Alongside veteran Sophie Devine, she forged a vital 112-run partnership for the fourth wicket, stabilizing the innings and putting New Zealand back in control.
The middle-order batter’s composed performance stood out under pressure. Devine came to the crease when the team was 35/2, and soon after, the score slipped to 38/3. Halliday joined her and together they rebuilt the innings with an impressive century-plus stand. The partnership was eventually broken by Fahima Khatun, who dismissed Halliday after she had batted resolutely.
In her knock of 69 runs, Halliday faced 104 balls, striking 5 fours and a six. This innings also marked an important milestone for her career — in just her 43rd match and 39th innings, Halliday surpassed 1,000 runs in Women’s One Day Internationals (WODIs). According to ESPNcricinfo, she now owns 1,012 runs at an average of 28.11, including seven half-centuries.
Notably, this was Halliday’s maiden appearance against Bangladesh in women’s cricket, and she certainly made it count with a steady and match-defining performance.
