India’s men’s T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav, has expressed strong confidence in Jemimah Rodrigues ahead of the Women’s World Cup 2025. This tournament marks Jemimah’s first-ever World Cup appearance since making her ODI debut in 2018. She is set to play her maiden World Cup match against Sri Lanka on September 30 at Guwahati’s Barsapara Stadium.

**Praise for Jemimah’s Resilience**

Jemimah recently recovered from a viral fever which caused her to miss two games during the three-match ODI series against Australia. Despite this setback, Suryakumar praised her resilience and positivity. Speaking in a video uploaded on BCCI Women X, he said, “I think for Jemi, the best way to describe her is ‘chhota packet, bada dhamaka.’ She always stays calm and positive, even in tough situations, carrying a smile on her face.”

**Confidence Ahead of the World Cup**

Suryakumar expressed his belief that Jemimah will perform exceptionally well in the World Cup. “Playing in the World Cup is a great opportunity, and I’m confident she’ll deliver,” he said. The 35-year-old added that Jemimah brings amazing energy to the field, and her infectious presence lifts the entire team.

**Learning from Jemimah’s Composure Under Pressure**

Highlighting Jemimah’s ability to handle pressure, Suryakumar mentioned that the Indian men’s team draws inspiration from her performances in high-stakes matches. “We learn a lot from her in big, high-pressure games. She has consistently performed under pressure, and that’s something we all want to emulate,” he shared. He also encouraged Jemimah to keep doing what she has been doing and enjoy the moment.

**Strong World Cup Preparation**

Jemimah has kicked off her World Cup preparations on a confident note. In a warm-up match against England on September 27 at the BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground in Bengaluru, she scored a solid 66 off 68 balls, including eight boundaries.

Meanwhile, Suryakumar has faced challenges with the bat during the ongoing Asia Cup 2025, managing 71 runs in five innings at an average of 23.66 and a strike rate of 107.57.
