**Tejashwi Yadav is RJD’s CM Face, Not Mahagathbandhan’s: Congress Leader**

As Bihar’s assembly elections draw closer—with voting scheduled for November 6 and 11 and results set for November 14—the opposition Mahagathbandhan remains undecided on a chief ministerial candidate. With less than 30 days remaining, this lack of consensus is becoming increasingly evident.
Congress leader Udit Raj recently clarified that while Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav is the party’s preferred Chief Minister candidate, he is not yet the choice of the entire opposition bloc.
“Look, any supporter of any party can name that party’s leader as chief minister. But the INDIA bloc’s candidate has not been decided. Let us see what the Congress headquarters decides,” Raj told PTI.
Earlier, in August, Rahul Gandhi also refrained from confirming Tejashwi Yadav as the CM face, stating, “INDIA bloc partners are working together without tension. We will contest together and the results will be good.”
In contrast, in a September interview with NDTV, Tejashwi Yadav asserted that the grand coalition will not contest the Bihar polls without projecting a clear chief ministerial candidate. “Are we the BJP that we do not have any faces? We definitely will not contest the elections without projecting a Chief Ministerial face,” he said, signaling some tension within the opposition.
The 2025 Bihar elections are crucial for the Mahagathbandhan, as they aim to unseat incumbent Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who has held the post since 2015 by switching alliances—earning him the nickname ‘Paltu Ram.’
The current Bihar Assembly, comprised of 243 members, will complete its term on November 22. The outcome of this election will determine the state’s political direction for the coming years.
