**What’s the story?**
Yangwang, a luxury sub-brand of Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD, has set a new world record for the fastest production car. This incredible feat was achieved at the ATP Automotive Testing Papenburg test track in Germany.
The latest U9 Xtreme hypercar reached a staggering top speed of 492.22 km/h, surpassing not only its own previous electric vehicle benchmark but also the top speeds of many petrol-powered cars.

Formerly known as the U9 Track/Special Edition, the U9 Xtreme is a refined iteration of an existing model sold in China. It boasts significant upgrades including:

– A lithium iron phosphate Blade Battery with a remarkable 30C discharge rate
– Four ultra-high-speed electric motors capable of spinning up to 30,000 rpm
