Apple tests customizable power button controls in iOS 26.2 beta
Macworld With the release of the first iOS 26. 2 beta, we have already learned some of Apple’s plans for the future of its iPhone software. And it seems there’s more to come. Code discovered in today’s beta reveals that Apple has been experimenting with the ability to customize the side (Power) button, a feature that could work similarly to the Action Button introduced with iPhone 15 Pro. Currently, pressing and holding the side button on the iPhone activates Siri, while a double-press brings up the Apple Wallet interface for contactless readers. Both actions are tied to Apple’s own services. For the first time, it seems that Apple may be considering letting users choose alternative behaviors for this button. This change could be particularly significant in light of recent European regulations that push for greater user choice and interoperability. Apple has already made several adjustments to comply with EU requirements, including opening the iPhone to third-party app stores and allowing users to choose default browsers and payment systems. Allowing customization of the side button might be another step in that direction. In the EU, users can already set an alternative payment app to open with a double-click. While the feature isn’t functional yet in iOS 26. 2 beta 1, internal code references suggest Apple is laying the groundwork. It’s unclear whether the company plans to release this option publicly. Some of the features that Apple tests internally never see the light of day. Based on the code, the implementation seems strictly focused on letting users choose which app they want to open with the button as opposed to the shortcuts and settings available with the Action button. We’ll be watching closely as Apple continues to develop and test iOS 26. 2 over the coming weeks to see whether this Side Button customization makes its way into future betas. The update is expected to be released to the public in December.
Uber, Zocdoc, And The Art Of Innovation Within Healthcare’s Regulatory Limits
The post Uber, Zocdoc, And The Art Of Innovation Within Healthcare’s Regulatory Limits appeared com. UKRAINE 2021/08/02: In this photo illustration a Zocdoc logo seen on a smartphone and a pc screen. Thousands of unemployed residents, desperate for work, began running unlicensed cab services in their own cars, crowding intersections and undercutting one another for fares. Safety was nonexistent, and competition was ruthless. In 1937, the city signed the Haas Act, creating a new system that capped the number of taxis and required each vehicle to display a medallion, which granted the exclusive right to pick up passengers in New York City. This medallion system reigned for three-quarters of a century. Then, in 2011, Uber launched in New York City and changed everything. With little regard for existing city, transportation and labor regulations, Uber clashed with officials New York and most every city it entered. Cease-and-desist orders and lawsuits piled up. But as demand for Uber continued to surge, regulators eventually caved and created new frameworks to legitimize app-based ride services. Uber’s experience brought simmering tension to the surface: regulations are designed to protect the public, but can unintentionally stifle competition and innovation in the process. If there’s one industry that highlights these tensions better than any other, it is healthcare. Privacy, security and trust are paramount, and human lives are at stake, and so individual and industry activities must be overseen. A substantial state and federal regulation has developed accordingly. However, the resulting byzantine system is one that seemingly serves no one well: it can be fairly characterized as an outrageously costly, bloated, and sclerotic. How can and should innovation in healthcare occur amid this tension? The Model That Made Uber Soar Nearly Sank Zocdoc In many ways, Zocdoc is.

Sharing a concise yet insightful video on social media, she urged followers to understand the IPO fully before investing, pointing out that it is “expensive compared to the current profits.” Soha said, “If you believe in the brand long term, then great. But if you’re hoping to get rich by next Friday, then maybe have another think.”She simplified the concept of an IPO for her fans, explaining it as the first time a private company offers shares to the public: “It’s saying, ‘Hey, now you can own a tiny piece of our company.’” Soha’s message resonated widely at a time when a high valuation and massive retail appetite combined to create a sell-out IPO event. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Soha (@sakpataudi) The allotment for the IPO will be announced on November 6, with shares slated for listing on BSE and NSE from November 10, 2025.
