After a five-year hiatus, Spotify has reestablished its partnership with Algoriddim’s widely-used DJ app, djay. This renewed integration now allows Spotify Premium subscribers to log in and stream their playlists directly from the Mac and Windows versions of the software.
**Desktop-Only Integration for Now**
It is important to note that this Spotify integration is currently limited to desktop applications. There has been no announcement regarding availability on mobile versions of the djay app as of yet.
**The Past Partnership and Its End**
Spotify and Algoriddim’s collaboration previously enjoyed popularity among DJs. However, in 2020, the partnership was abruptly ended due to licensing issues. Spotify’s Terms of Service explicitly prohibit mixing Spotify tracks, which led to the discontinuation of their integration in djay.
**Roadblocks Cleared for a Fresh Start**
Now, those previous roadblocks appear to have been resolved, paving the way for Spotify’s return to the djay platform. The streaming giant’s comeback is a welcomed development within the DJ community.
**Benefits to djay Users**
One significant advantage of this renewed partnership is that Spotify integration is now available even to free users of the djay app. While the Pro subscription still offers premium features like hardware integration and effects, access to Spotify’s extensive music library is no longer restricted solely to paid users.
Since Spotify’s withdrawal, Algoriddim had integrated other streaming services such as Tidal, SoundCloud, and Apple Music. With Spotify back on board, djay users now have even more options for enhancing their DJing experience.
Stay tuned for updates on mobile availability and further enhancements to this exciting partnership.
