New Delhi: Delhi University (DU) has commenced its physical on-the-spot mop-up admissions for undergraduate courses. However, the response has been limited, with only 73 BA Honours seats filled on the first day, according to officials.
DU officials stated that all reserved category candidates, except those from the OBC (Other Backward Class) and Unreserved (UR) categories, were invited for admission on Tuesday. Approximately 876 students were called for 1,700 available seats, but just 73 students took admission.
Despite multiple rounds of admission, around 7,000 seats remain vacant across various categories. This includes nearly 2,000 seats reserved for PwD (Persons with Disabilities) candidates.
For BA Honours courses, about 2,600 UR and OBC students are scheduled to be invited on Wednesday. Admissions for BCom and Economics courses will be conducted on Thursday, followed by science subjects the next day.
The physical mop-up admission round is slated to conclude on September 29. Unlike regular admissions, this mop-up round is based on candidates’ Class 12 marks rather than CUET (Common University Entrance Test) scores.
Officials have warned that any seats remaining vacant after September 29 will remain unfilled for the academic session.
