CAROL STREAM, Ill. (WLS) — A federal lawsuit over a deadly police shooting in Carol Stream has been settled. The Daily Herald reports that the family of Isaac Goodlow III will receive $9.4 million in the settlement.
Officers responding to a domestic violence call shot and killed Goodlow, who was unarmed, inside his apartment in February 2024. While the officers involved were not charged, the lawsuit claimed that the police used excessive force during the incident.
Officer Daniel Pfingston fired the fatal shot, officials confirmed. The village of Carol Stream has stated that Pfingston is no longer employed by the Carol Stream Police Department.
In a statement issued in 2024, the DuPage County state’s attorney described the shooting as a tragedy but emphasized that the evidence must support a conviction beyond a reasonable doubt.
