Ubisoft’s Far Cry IP is getting an anthology-style TV series on Hulu. The series was announced to be at production at FX and will focus entirely on new characters, locations, factions, and more as it explores different corners of the Far Cry universe as it debuts exclusively on the Hulu TV streaming service. FX and Ubisoft announced the early details of the Hulu Far Cry TV series in a post on social media this week. According to the post, the series is in production now, although we also learned that showrunner duty will be split between Alien: Earth’s Noah Hawley, as well as Mythic Quest and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia co-creator Rob Mac. The series was not given a release window at this time. The horror and action expertise of Hawley and the adult comedic finesse of McElhenney promises to be an interesting combination for Far Cry, which is often punctuated with bullet-riddled intensity, as well as its own share of off-color humor. However, even more interesting is that this series doesn’t sound like it will tread any waters we’ve already seen: That means right from the get-go, this new Far Cry is going to be a fresh story, probably featuring just some light connective tissue to the games we know.
