**Badnawar Man Sentenced to 10 Years Rigorous Imprisonment for Raping Minor**
Badnawar (Madhya Pradesh): In a significant judgment, a man named Kanhaiya Lal has been sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) for raping a minor in Badnawar. The Additional Sessions Judge, GC Mishra, handed down the sentence along with a fine.
The accused had lured the minor from her home in November 2022 and repeatedly assaulted her in a hut located in the Sailana area. The victim’s family eventually rescued her, and the police registered a case against Kanhaiya Lal.
During the trial, the court found the accused guilty under Sections 366 and 376(2)(n) of the Indian Penal Code. However, he was acquitted of other charges due to lack of evidence. The judge emphasized the serious nature of the crime and rejected any leniency, despite the accused being only 21 years old.
Kanhaiya Lal was sentenced to five years imprisonment under Section 366 and 10 years under Section 376(2)(n). Additionally, he was fined a total of Rs 5,000. Failure to pay the fine will result in additional imprisonment.
The accused had already spent 141 days in custody and was sent to jail immediately after the sentencing. The victim will receive the fine amount as compensation.
