Pikmin 4 Version 1.1.0 Update Launches with Photo Mode, New Difficulty Levels, and More
The much-anticipated update for Pikmin 4 has officially launched on the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, bringing a variety of exciting gameplay features and quality-of-life improvements. Version 1.1.0 introduces a new Field Camera for taking and decorating pictures, fresh Décor Pikmin, enhanced difficulty settings, and additional control options, among other enhancements.
New Features in Pikmin 4 Version 1.1.0
One of the standout additions is the **Field Camera**, which enables players to capture stunning snapshots of the world around them and decorate these photos with stamps and frames. The Field Camera is added to your in-game bag on the morning of Day 2. If you update from an earlier save, the item will be available once you return to the Rescue Command Post and a new morning begins.
Another exciting feature is the introduction of **Décor Pikmin**. These special Pikmin can only be found and captured by using the Field Camera. After rescuing the Rescue Corps Ranger Dingo, players can take pictures of Decor Pikmin to add them to their squad. Furthermore, data of discovered Decor Pikmin can be shared with the mobile game *Pikmin Bloom* to receive seedlings corresponding to the same Decor Pikmin. To do this, the Nintendo Account must be the same across both Pikmin 4 and Pikmin Bloom. Data sharing is available upon finishing the exploration on the day the Decor Pikmin is discovered.
For those ready to dive back into the adventure with their progress intact, the update adds a new **New Game Plus** feature called *Roll Over*. Players who have cleared the story can start a new playthrough, carrying over some save data. Simply select an empty Rescue Database on the file selection screen. If you have previously advanced to the morning of Day 2, you can skip the introduction and begin directly from Day 2’s exploration, heading toward Sun-Speckled Terrace after creating an ID Badge.
Additional Gameplay and Control Improvements
The update adds three different activity levels for creatures—**Relaxed**, **Normal**, and **Fierce**—which can be changed at any time via the Settings menu.
Moreover, several new control settings give players better command over gameplay:
– Toggle **Auto Target Lock** for the cursor on or off.
– Choose the center point of the whistle between the **cursor** or the **player avatar** (default sets to Player Avatar if activity level is Relaxed).
– Select between **Normal** or **Precise** speed for the aiming arrow when holding down the X button. Setting it to Precise helps with more accurate adjustment of Pikmin’s Charge and Oatchi’s Rush directions.
Bug Fixes
This update also includes miscellaneous bug fixes designed to enhance the overall gameplay experience.
Additional Notes
A patch with the same changes has been released for the Pikmin 4 demo (Version 1.1.0). However, the demo version does not support linking to the Pikmin Bloom mobile application.
