The next Mass Effect game—presumably Mass Effect 5, though it remains officially untitled—was announced back in 2020. However, leading up to that announcement, BioWare hadn’t been experiencing the best run, and unfortunately, the situation hasn’t improved significantly since then.
Despite these challenges, BioWare and Electronic Arts made sure not to let N7 Day pass without addressing the status of the upcoming Mass Effect title. The game is still very much in development, and both companies remain committed to its eventual release.
On N7 Day 2025, BioWare posted an update on their official blog, reassuring fans that the next Mass Effect installment is progressing and will continue to be in active development for the foreseeable future. While the blog’s wording suggests that we likely won’t see significant news or details about the game anytime soon, the team is actively preparing exciting Mass Effect-related content.
In addition to focusing on the game itself, BioWare is working on new merchandise and crossover content that will appear in other Electronic Arts franchises, giving fans fresh ways to engage with the Mass Effect universe while they wait for the next installment.
