“These guys are a joke. A complete joke”: Lewis Hamilton blasts the FIA stewards for his 5-second penalty in the F1 Brazilian GP

Lewis Hamilton criticized the FIA stewards after the governing body penalized him with a five-second time penalty at the recently concluded Brazil GP. Hamilton, after receiving the penalty, blasted the officials on team radio as he endured yet another tough race.

Formula 1 was in Brazil for the 21st race weekend of the season. The country, being one of Hamilton’s favorite ones, did not turn out to be a memorable venue this time around. After Saturday’s underwhelming qualifying, Sunday’s race proved to be another disaster for the seven-time world champion.

Starting the race from P13, the British driver made contact with several cars on Lap 4. However, it was his collision with Franco Colapinto of Alpine that made all the difference, as Hamilton was slapped with a five-second time penalty for causing the collision.

Frustrated by the decision, Hamilton took to his team radio to express his displeasure. Here’s what he said:
“These guys are a joke. A complete joke.”

As a result of the penalty, Lewis Hamilton rejoined the grid in P18. After a few laps, he retired from the race, running in the last position with a damaged floor sustained during the collision.

Besides Hamilton, his teammate Charles Leclerc also retired from the Brazil GP after losing a tire in another collision. In summary, both Ferrari drivers ended the race with DNFs in São Paulo.

### Lewis Hamilton Opens Up After a Horrendous Brazil GP

Following the conclusion of the race, Hamilton shared his thoughts with the media:
“I mean, jeez. This is definitely a weekend to forget. It’s a shame because I love Brazil and also, you know, just everyone in the team, every single person in the team, they turn up every week and give it their absolute best and to come away with nothing, to not finish a race the second time in the year. It’s really devastating and I feel terrible for the team. I’m sorry for my part in qualifying, putting myself in that position. I just have to… we’ll get back up tomorrow and just give it another go,” he added.

### Race Results Summary

Lando Norris of McLaren, who started from pole position, won the race ahead of Kimi Antonelli and Max Verstappen. George Russell and Oscar Piastri completed the top five, while Oliver Bearman, Liam Lawson, Isack Hadjar, Nico Hulkenberg, and Pierre Gasly rounded out the top 10 finishers.

The Brazil GP was a challenging weekend for Ferrari and Lewis Hamilton, but the season continues with more opportunities ahead.
