The Seattle Seahawks have officially cut ties with former third-round draft pick Tyler Scott. According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston, wide receiver Tyler Scott was released from the team’s practice squad on Friday.
Scott was signed to the Seahawks’ practice squad earlier this month but did not appear in any regular-season games for the team.
### Tyler Scott Looking for Next NFL Opportunity
Scott, the 133rd overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Cincinnati, spent his first two NFL seasons with the Chicago Bears, appearing in 28 games. All four of his starts came during his rookie year, where he recorded 17 catches for 168 yards. In 2024, he added one catch for five yards across 11 games.
In addition to his receiving duties, Scott contributed on special teams over the past two seasons, returning 13 kicks for a total of 315 yards. He was waived by the Bears during final roster cuts in August.
Shortly after, Scott signed with the Indianapolis Colts’ practice squad but was released following Week 3. Standing 5-foot-10, Scott showed flashes of big-play potential at Cincinnati, where he amassed 899 receiving yards and nine touchdowns on 54 catches during his final collegiate season in 2022.
Despite his collegiate success, Scott has yet to fully translate that production to the NFL. The Seahawks, his third team in as many seasons, did not hesitate to move on.
That said, at just 24 years old, Scott still has plenty of opportunities to latch on with another NFL team.
### Seahawks Bring Back Undrafted Rookie Receiver
In a corresponding roster move, the Seahawks have brought back undrafted free agent receiver Tyrone Broden. The Arkansas product initially impressed during training camp but was released earlier this month to make room for Scott on the practice squad.
At 6-foot-5, Broden is an intriguing talent due to his size, though he is still raw and will need time to develop on Seattle’s practice squad. The Seahawks appear committed to giving him that chance moving forward.
