A video surfaced showing Britney Spears driving erratically after a night out with a friend, amid reports that she is “spiraling” over her ex-husband Kevin Federline’s tell-all memoir.
The clip, obtained by the Daily Mail on Thursday, showed the “Toxic” singer leaving Thousand Oaks restaurant Red-O and getting into the driver’s seat of her black BMW. Several people allegedly attempted to stop her from driving. One onlooker told the outlet that Spears “nearly ran over her friend while pulling out” of the parking lot.
In the video, Spears, 43, was seen swerving into opposite lanes, including a bike lane, as she made her way to her Thousand Oaks estate. At one point, she tailgated another vehicle. When the Grammy winner reached a stoplight, she was also seen putting something into her mouth.
A source told the Daily Mail that Spears was stuck outside the gate of her home, trying to get in for about 20 minutes. “She would key it in and drive up to the gate, but the gate would not open,” the insider said. “She did this three or four times. The friend never left her car. After 20 minutes, the friend left. Brit then spent another 10 minutes trying to get in and finally succeeded.”
According to the source, Spears’ outing comes as Federline’s memoir is “putting Britney in a tailspin. She’s spiraling. It’s reopening old wounds.” The source added that it has been “rough” for her with everything being back in the news. “She’s acting out. She gets into these spirals and it just goes downhill fast,” they explained.
Representatives for Spears were not immediately available to comment to Page Six.
This night out follows the release of Federline’s memoir, *You Thought You Knew*, which came out on October 20. The former dancer, 47, made several damning allegations about Spears, to whom he was married from 2004 to 2007. They share two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James.
Among the allegations, Federline claimed that their sons woke up to Spears watching them sleep while holding a knife, and that she used cocaine while breastfeeding. He also warned that Spears’ “erratic behavior” is worse than what is seen on the surface.
Spears, however, responded by slamming Federline’s “constant gaslighting” and “hurtful” allegations. She commented on her relationship with her sons, stating, “I will always love them and if you really know me, you won’t pay attention to the tabloids of my mental health and drinking.”
