Two teens identified as victims in Auburn-Gresham double homicide

Two teenagers were among the victims found fatally shot inside a vacant apartment in Auburn Gresham earlier this week, alongside a third shooting victim who survived, according to authorities.

Chicago police discovered all three individuals at a building near the intersection of 82nd Street and Marshfield Avenue early Wednesday morning. The deceased were identified as Tamrion West, 17, from the city’s Chicago Lawn neighborhood, and Davajae Christopher, 16, from Auburn Gresham. As of Thursday, the Cook County medical examiner’s office had not officially identified West.

Autopsies performed Thursday confirmed that both teens died from multiple gunshot wounds, and their deaths were ruled homicides by the medical examiner’s office.

Gresham District (006) officers responding to the shooting call around 8 a.m. Wednesday found one of the teen victims on a rear porch with a gunshot wound to the head, according to a police report. Following a trail of blood into the building, officers discovered the other two victims inside. One was a 21-year-old man who sustained two gunshot wounds to his right shoulder.

The surviving victim told police that three unknown males had entered the apartment and “shot the whole house up,” but did not provide further details, the report stated.

Police noted the building contained several vacant apartments, and that the victims were inside illegally at the time of the shooting. Authorities have not disclosed a possible motive. No arrests have been made yet as Calumet Area detectives continue their investigation.
