Quantic Dream, the studio behind acclaimed titles like *Heavy Rain* and *Detroit: Become Human*, has confirmed that it’s working on a competitive multiplayer video game. This new project joins *Star Wars: Eclipse* among the upcoming games currently in development at David Cage’s studio.
In a letter to fans, David Cage provided an update on what’s been happening at Quantic Dream lately. He revealed that the studio is developing “a competitive multiplayer experience.” Cage acknowledged that this marks a significant departure from their previous focus on single-player, narrative-driven games.
“But taking risks, challenging ourselves, exploring new ways of playing and telling stories, and attempting what seems impossible, has always been part of our DNA,” Cage explained.
Cage also touched on *Star Wars: Eclipse*, the highly anticipated narrative game announced back in 2021. While no new details were shared in this update, he confirmed that development on the game is still underway.
With this move, Quantic Dream joins the growing list of major developers exploring the multiplayer genre amid an industry increasingly focused on live service models. Last year, Rocksteady Games made a similar pivot with their multiplayer-centric title, *Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League*.
