**AI Boosts Creativity, Doesn’t Endanger Creators: Mosseri on MrBeast’s Concerns**

Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, recently addressed concerns raised by popular creator MrBeast (Jimmy Donaldson) regarding the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on content creation.
At the Bloomberg Screentime conference this week, Mosseri acknowledged that AI has the potential to change who can be creative by enabling people who were not previously creators to produce content of a certain quality and scale. However, he also cautioned that bad actors might misuse this technology for harmful purposes.
### Will AI Replicate MrBeast’s Content?
MrBeast had recently warned that AI-generated videos could threaten creators’ livelihoods, describing this as “scary times” for the industry. Mosseri disagreed, stating that most creators won’t use AI to replicate the elaborate productions MrBeast is known for. Instead, AI is likely to empower creators to enhance both the quality and quantity of their content.
### AI’s Role in Reducing Content Production Costs
Mosseri drew a comparison between the internet’s impact on publishing and AI’s potential to reduce content production costs. He explained:
*”What the internet did was allow almost anyone to become a publisher by reducing the cost of distributing content to essentially zero.”*
He added that generative AI models appear poised to do something similar for content production.
### AI Integration Creates Hybrid Content
Mosseri also noted a growing trend of “hybrid” content on major social platforms, where creators incorporate AI into their workflows without producing fully synthetic content. He expects this blending of organic and synthetic content to become even more common in the future.
### Challenges in AI Content Labeling
Addressing the difficulties of identifying AI-generated content, Mosseri admitted that Meta’s current AI content labeling system requires improvement. Early attempts to automatically label AI content sometimes flagged genuine content as AI-generated—especially when tools like Adobe software were involved in the creative process.
He emphasized that while Meta has a responsibility to identify AI-generated content, it should also provide users with more context to help them make informed decisions.
### Adapting to a New Digital Reality
Finally, Mosseri stressed the need for society to adapt to the evolving digital landscape. He highlighted the importance of educating younger generations that just because they see a video, it doesn’t necessarily mean the event actually happened. This represents a significant shift from previous generations, who generally assumed that a video was an accurate capture of real-world moments.

As AI technology continues to develop, Mosseri’s perspective underscores its potential to boost creativity rather than replace human creators, while also calling attention to the responsibilities and challenges this new era presents.
