Hollywood actor-director Jason Bateman is set to direct the film adaptation of John Grisham’s bestselling novel, *The Partner*. The project stars Tom Holland as a junior attorney who fakes his own death to embezzle $90 million from a corrupt client, according to Variety.

Universal Pictures has taken over the production of *The Partner*, marking a shift from its previous home at New Regency. The novel, originally published in February 1997, has been a long-anticipated adaptation. Earlier, director John Lee Hancock was attached to the project at New Regency before it ultimately moved to Universal.
