In winning duel of blue-chip setters, Nikolov leads Bulgaria to semis

Moni Nikolov had a duel to remember with American setter Micah Christenson on Thursday night, leading Bulgaria to a thrilling come-from-behind victory over the United States in the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship quarterfinals at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Despite losing the first two sets 21-25 and 19-25, Bulgaria rallied back strongly, taking the next three sets 25-17, 25-22, and a nail-biting 15-13 to stun the American team and secure their place in the semifinals.

The 18-year-old setter stood his ground throughout the intense match, showcasing remarkable skill and composure under pressure. His performance was a key factor in Bulgaria’s stunning upset and their advancement in the tournament.
