In recent days, rumors have been circulating that Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has put the biopic on Dadasaheb Phalke—the father of Indian cinema—on hold due to dissatisfaction with the script. However, these reports have now been cleared up.
Chandrashekhar Pusalkar, Phalke’s grandson, has confirmed that the claims about script re-editing are false. Speaking to IANS, Pusalkar stated, “The script is finalized, and the project will start soon.” He also revealed that acclaimed filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani has shown interest in the movie.
Pusalkar added, “I believe if such a film is made, it will serve as a role model and help people understand my grandfather’s contribution in detail.”

### Remembering a Legend: Phalke’s Legacy Through His Grandson’s Eyes
Growing up as the grandson of a legendary figure like Dadasaheb Phalke left a unique impression on Pusalkar. He shared, “When I was young, I came to know that my grandfather was different. His name used to appear in newspapers, and my mother would proudly show it to everyone in our small home.”
Although Pusalkar never met Phalke—who passed away in 1944, seven years before his birth in 1951—he recalls the stories his mother often told him.
“She was very particular about discipline and often scolded me, saying, ‘You should have been in your grandfather’s kingdom.’ At times, I used to get angry wondering who this grandfather was, because of whom I kept getting scolded. But later, I became thankful for her words,” he recalled fondly.

For those unfamiliar, Dadasaheb Phalke’s contribution to Indian cinema is monumental. He directed *Raja Harishchandra* in 1913, India’s first full-length feature film, laying the foundation for the vibrant film industry we know today.
With the script finalized and filming on the horizon, Aamir Khan’s biopic promises to shine a light on Phalke’s extraordinary journey and enduring legacy.
