**Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde Promises Aid to Farmers Affected by Rains**

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said on Wednesday that the government would provide all possible assistance to rain-hit farmers in the state. He made this statement while speaking to reporters after visiting flood-affected pockets in Dharashiv district, located in the Marathwada region, along with Shiv Sena leader Tanaji Sawant, according to PTI.

During the visit, Shinde interacted with farmers and people affected by the floods. Unprecedented rains over the past four days in the arid Marathwada region, which consists of eight districts, have claimed at least eight lives, marooned villages, damaged houses, and flattened crops on more than 30,000 hectares, officials had reported on Tuesday. Dharashiv is one of the worst-affected areas.

Shinde assured that the government would support farmers who suffered losses because of the floods and recent torrential downpours. He noted that personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) had rescued people from flooded areas and airlifted several individuals to safer locations.

He further appealed to political parties not to indulge in politics but to come together to help all those affected by the disaster.

The Marathwada region recorded 823.8 mm of rainfall till Tuesday morning—28.5 percent more than the average expected downpour of 640.8 mm for the period, officials said.
