Today, Mr. Sasaki, Managing Executive Officer, will give a briefing on the financial results for FY 2024 third quarter. Thank you. I am Sasaki from Sumitomo Chemical. Thank you very much for attending our conference call despite your busy schedules.
I’d like to express our gratitude to all investors and analysts for your daily understanding and continued support of our management.
Let me begin with a briefing of our financial results for the FY 2024 third quarter. Please refer to Slide (Page 4) for more details.
Before delving into the specifics of our financial results, I would first like to highlight some major points regarding the third quarter.
Driven by the favorable performance of Sumitomo Pharma as well as our ICT & Mobility segment, core operating income for the third quarter improved significantly. Profit is increasing quarter after quarter.
Notably, during the same period in the previous year, we recorded a loss of JPY 113.9 billion. This year, however, we posted a profit of JPY 60.1 billion—a substantial turnaround.
Additionally, gain on the sale of unprofitable and noncore businesses, which has been promoted as part of our immediate-term concentrated measures to improve business performance, contributed to the results.
