Indore Love Jihad Funding Case: BJP For Expulsion Of Congress Corporator Anwar Qadri, Issues Whip For IMC Council Meeting

**BJP Corporators to Move Proposal for Removal of Congress Corporator Anwar Qadri in Indore Municipal Corporation**

*Indore (Madhya Pradesh):* Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) corporators are set to vote in favor of a proposal to remove Congress corporator Anwar Qadri from his position during the upcoming Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) council meeting. This move follows Qadri’s alleged involvement in a “love jihad” funding case.

The BJP corporator group unanimously passed the expulsion proposal in a meeting held on Monday. The meeting was attended by Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav, BJP city president Sumit Mishra, and all party corporators. According to BJP leaders, this proposal was initially discussed in the previous Mayor-in-Council meeting, where it was decided to bring a formal resolution before all corporators.

With Monday’s decision, the process to remove Qadri from the Indore Municipal Corporation is now progressing.

**Historic Action Against a Corporator, Says BJP Leader**

Speaking about the decision, BJP city president Sumit Mishra stated that the meeting was held to prepare for the upcoming IMC council meeting, during which the official proposal to remove Qadri will be tabled.

“We have issued a whip to ensure all corporators are present on the day of the council meeting. This will be a historic moment — perhaps the first time in Indore’s history that a corporator will be dismissed in this manner,” Mishra said.

He emphasized that the matter concerns the “honour and dignity of women” and asserted that anyone involved in funding criminal activities or promoting ‘love jihad’ will not be tolerated within the civic body.

**Mayor’s Letter to Divisional Commissioner**

Anwar Qadri, a Congress corporator from Ward No. 58, has been under scrutiny since June. On June 20, Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav wrote a letter to the Divisional Commissioner recommending Qadri’s removal.

In the letter, Bhargav cited an FIR registered against Qadri and referred to his alleged criminal background. He argued that Qadri’s continuation as a corporator would undermine the dignity of the municipal council.

**Serious Allegations and Police Action**

The controversy began in June when a video surfaced online showing two men claiming that Qadri had paid them money to lure Hindu women into conversion and prostitution. These shocking allegations sparked widespread outrage, leading the police to register a case and launch an investigation.

During the probe, Qadri was named a key conspirator. Following this, he went underground, and the police announced a reward of Rs 40,000 for information leading to his arrest. Raids were conducted in Indore, Delhi, and other cities to trace him.

**Arrests and Legal Proceedings**

In a related development, Qadri’s daughter, Ayesha, was arrested on charges of assisting her father in evading arrest but was later released on bail.

After remaining absconding for nearly three months, Anwar Qadri surrendered before a district court on August 29.

With the BJP corporator group’s proposal now approved, the final decision regarding Qadri’s removal is expected during the upcoming IMC council meeting. Party officials have described this move as a necessary step toward maintaining integrity and public trust in civic administration.

“No individual involved in criminal or anti-social activities will be allowed to hold public office,” stated MiC member Rajendra Rathore following the meeting.
