One of the biggest surprises from Wednesday’s PlayStation State of Play presentation was the announcement focusing on the classic Deus Ex series. The original Deus Ex is getting a remaster for new audiences.
“Deus Ex has always been about freedom,” said Aspyr Associate Brand Manager Matthew Ray on the PlayStation Blog. “When the original title first launched, it redefined what a video game could be, melding RPG elements, action and stealth gameplay, and branching player choices into a cyberpunk immersive sim like nobody else had ever tried. Storm through the front door, hack the security grid, slip past enemies with invisibility cloaks, or talk your way through impossible odds. Every mission, every level, and every outcome adapts to your choices.”
Ray also shared what’s new with Deus Ex Remastered. The game will feature enhanced lighting, shadows, particle effects, and upscaled textures. All character models have been revamped for modern hardware, ensuring they look freshly rendered and support lip-synced dialogue.
Additionally, Aspyr is taking inspiration from Eidos Montreal’s Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided to overhaul the original game’s controls, aiming to deliver a smoother and more intuitive experience on consoles.
Deus Ex Remastered is currently confirmed for PlayStation 5 only, with a release date set for February 5, 2026. Stay tuned for more updates as the launch approaches!
