WWE World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk was recently inducted into the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (WON) Hall of Fame, marking a major milestone outside of the Stamford-based WWE promotion. Known as one of the greatest wrestlers to ever step inside the squared circle, Punk—often called “The Best in the World”—has remained a top competitor for decades and continues to make a significant impact in World Wrestling Entertainment.
### CM Punk’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame Induction
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio unveiled the list of the 2025 Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame inductees in a recent YouTube video, with current World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk among those honored. Meltzer emphasized Punk’s unparalleled influence since his return to WWE in 2023, stating that his impact was “too much to deny.”
Phil Brooks, Punk’s real name, is 47 years old and has excelled in several key categories compared to most Hall of Famers. He has also been a major business mover in recent years throughout his comeback runs with both AEW and WWE.
Meltzer noted, “The end of his AEW stint probably kept people from voting for him initially, but with his success as one of the top stars during a boom period in WWE, there was just too much to deny.”
