If you’re looking for a fully automatic espresso machine that will do all the work for you—from bean to cup—I recommend the Philips LatteGo 5500 Series, now $989.99 (was $1,299.99) at Amazon.
It’s a breeze to use, brews consistently excellent hot or cold espresso, and has one of the best automatic milk systems I’ve used. The LatteGo 5500 is compact, measuring just 9.7 x 14.6 x 17 inches (H x W x D), making it ideal for kitchens with limited counter space.
One of the things I particularly like about this machine is that it’s perfectly sized for one or two coffee drinkers. Its water tank and bean hopper are relatively small, so you won’t have stale coffee or water hanging around. The milk carafe holds just enough for a latte or two. You pour milk into the carafe while it’s attached to the machine, then remove it, take it apart, and toss it in the dishwasher. It’s made from hard plastic and has no hard-to-clean tubes, which makes maintenance easy and hygienic.
Coffee is consistently well-extracted, and Philips includes a guided brewing mode to help you choose the optimal settings. The milk frothing is steamed to perfection—truly a great little all-rounder.

### Best Manual Espresso Machine: De’Longhi Dedica Duo
For those on a tight budget, the De’Longhi Dedica Duo is a standout option. It’s currently priced at just $199.95 (was $299.95) during Amazon’s early Black Friday sale—an incredible value.
De’Longhi is known for making some of the best espresso machines I’ve tested, and the Dedica Duo does not disappoint. Unlike some budget machines, it is solidly built, heats quickly, and maintains the pressure necessary for consistently well-extracted espresso.
As a bonus, the Dedica Duo lets you bypass the boiler and extract a shot of cold espresso using water straight from the tank. While it takes about two minutes for a single shot and four minutes for a double, this method produces a mellow flavor profile similar to cold brew but much faster than traditional overnight brewing.
This machine also sports some nice design updates from its predecessor, the Dedica Style. For instance, the drip tray is now wider, making it easy to fit two espresso cups. The Dedica Duo is available in fun gelato-inspired colors including pink, green, and white.
