Eden Valley-Watkins Football Faces Underdog Role in Class AA State Tournament Semifinals
Eden Valley-Watkins football will take on the role of underdog this Friday morning in the Class AA State Tournament Semifinals at U.S. Bank Stadium. The Eagles, currently 9-2 and riding an impressive eight-game winning streak, will face unbeaten defending champion Jackson County Central (11-0) at 9 a.m.
Jackson County Central boasts a talented roster led by 4-star Gopher commit and standout quarterback Roman Voss. Head Coach Adam Tri joined us on WJON to discuss the upcoming matchup and his team’s preparation.
The Matchup
Coach Tri acknowledges the great talent on Jackson County Central’s sideline but remains confident that Eden Valley-Watkins is up for the challenge. He credits his team’s success to a strong offensive line and a balanced attack combining both run and pass plays.
Adjusting to the early game time, Tri says the Eagles are preparing to be ready for the 9 a.m. kickoff. He praises JCC as a well-coached team that executes many aspects of the game effectively. To succeed, Eden Valley-Watkins will need to read their keys carefully, run the ball consistently, and tackle with precision.
Tri also highlighted the challenge posed by Jackson County Central’s quarterback, Roman Voss, noting his rare combination of size (6’4″, 220 lbs) and speed makes him tough to handle on the field.

The enthusiasm surrounding the team is palpable. Coach Tri shared that both the players and the communities of Eden Valley and Watkins are thrilled for the opportunity to compete at U.S. Bank Stadium—the iconic home of the Minnesota Vikings.
Last week, fans packed Apollo High School to cheer on Eden Valley-Watkins during their quarterfinal victory over Moose Lake-Willow River. That strong community support is expected to continue, with many supporters planning to attend the semifinal game on Friday.
