Dallas Cowboys Head Coach Brian Schottenheimer addressed the team’s recent loss of Marshawn Kneeland during a press conference on Wednesday. NFL Network Insider Mike Garafolo shared a clip on X, highlighting the team’s ongoing healing process. Following a memorial service held at The Star, the Cowboys have returned to practice ahead of their upcoming Monday game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Garafolo wrote, “The healing process continues as the team has worked to support Marshawn Kneeland’s girlfriend and family.” He also shared that a memorial fund has been established to benefit Kneeland’s pregnant girlfriend, Catalina Mancera. Coach Schottenheimer emphasized the team’s commitment, saying, “We want to make sure she’s taken care of and the baby is taken care of for the rest of their lives.”
Marshawn Kneeland’s girlfriend, Catalina Mancera, has been by the Kneeland family’s side as they mourn. According to the Daily Mail, she was seen with Marshawn’s sister, Yahmya Kneeland, outside an apartment building in Plano, Texas. Speaking publicly for the first time since the tragedy, Catalina said, “I’m grieving hard right now. It will be a long time before I’ll feel ready to talk at any length.”
Regarding funeral arrangements, she shared, “We’re still in the early stages of everything. We are working on the funeral arrangements. I don’t know where it’s going to be yet.” When asked about the circumstances surrounding Kneeland’s death, Catalina responded, “It’s too much.”
Marshawn and Catalina had been together since their college days at Western Michigan University. His cousin, Nicole Kneeland-Woods, told the Daily Mail that the couple shared many important milestones throughout their relationship.
Marshawn Kneeland tragically passed away on Thursday. Police discovered his body inside a portable restroom near Network Boulevard and Gaylord Parkway in Frisco, Texas—close to the site where his car crashed following a high-speed chase. Authorities report that his death appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, with the investigation ongoing as a possible suicide.
Reports indicate that Kneeland sent a “goodbye message” to loved ones before his death. Catalina immediately contacted police, informing them that Kneeland was armed and struggled with mental health issues. Unfortunately, their search ended in tragedy.
The Dallas Cowboys community continues to rally around Catalina and the Kneeland family during this difficult time, honoring Marshawn’s memory and supporting those affected by his loss.
