Capcom Cup 12 PPV pricing is being reviewed, but tickets will still likely be sold

Since Capcom began announcing major details for this year’s annual Street Fighter tournament, Capcom Cup 12, the decision to charge viewers to watch the competition has stirred controversy among fans worldwide. While pay-per-view (PPV) access was already standard in Japan, extending this model globally has unsettled many longtime viewers who were accustomed to watching Capcom Cup for free.

Capcom has acknowledged the complaints and promised to discuss the matter internally, but for now, it appears the company remains firm in its approach. Recently, Capcom reiterated that tickets and PPV pricing will be applied worldwide, even as some final details are still being finalized.

Updated information was shared on the Capcom Fighters social media channels this week. The announcement confirmed that Capcom intends to proceed with charging for access to Capcom Cup 12 and the Street Fighter League in a PPV format. Tickets will begin going on sale on November 12, although specific pricing has not yet been disclosed and continues to be under discussion.

This update is unlikely to satisfy critics who argue that introducing fees after years of free viewing is unfair. Interestingly, even the developers behind Street Fighter 6 were reportedly caught off guard by the announcement.

At present, the only aspect still under review is ensuring that the pricing structure is reasonable, but further details on this have yet to be announced. For now, fans should prepare to purchase tickets if they wish to watch this year’s Capcom Cup and related events.
