**Where Should the Fallout Franchise Go Next?**
The Fallout series has been a staple of the gaming world for nearly three decades. Throughout these almost 30 years, Fallout’s stories and settings have remained firmly within the United States. With Fallout Day celebrated this year, it’s the perfect opportunity to imagine where the franchise could explore next. Should the next game stay stateside, or venture into new countries entirely? Here are some exciting ideas from the Shack Chat community on where Fallout could head next.

### Canada/Alaska
**TJ Denzer, Wants a Frostier Fallout**
Nearly every Fallout game has taken place in the southern United States—except Fallout 3, which ventured as far north as Pittsburgh. But it’s time for a much colder, frostier post-apocalyptic setting. The lore often references Alaska as a key flashpoint in the US-China war that triggered the nuclear fallout, yet the only glimpse we’ve had was through a simulation in Fallout 3’s *Operation: Anchorage* DLC.
TJ would love to explore the northern reaches of North America in a full game. What state is Canada in after the bombs? How has Alaska fared post-invasion? Instead of simply hearing about it, he wants to see it for himself in an immersive Fallout experience.

### Northeast Ohio
**Asif Khan, Avid Weather Reporter**
Fallout 76 expanded into Southeastern Ohio, but Asif thinks it’s time to explore more of what’s left along I-77 in Northeast Ohio. Imagine ruins of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the Cleveland Browns Stadium, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame all reimagined in the Fallout universe.
This area would offer a unique set of landmarks and culture, now twisted and decayed in the aftermath of nuclear war—a fresh map with plenty of storytelling potential.

### Antarctica
**Sam Chandler, The Terror**
Sam’s first thought was Australia for a new Fallout setting, inspired by its Mad Max vibes, but he soon shifted focus to a far more extreme environment: Antarctica.
What would a post-nuclear, frozen wasteland look like? Would the ice still cover the continent, or would rising temperatures thaw it, revealing prehistoric secrets? Antarctica is already politically charged, with many countries staking claims to parts of it, offering ripe material for faction conflict and tension.
Picture bizarre Vault-Tec vaults buried beneath the ice, each housing strange and wacky experiments frozen in time. It’s a unique and chilling setting that could bring a whole new flavor to the series.

### London
**Donovan Erskine, Went There Once**
Donovan envisions Fallout in none other than London. Famous for its iconic landmarks, London could be the perfect backdrop for a post-apocalyptic tale. Drawing inspiration from films like *28 Days Later*, the city’s empty streets, crumbling historic buildings, and shadowy underground tunnels would blend seamlessly with Fallout’s mix of adventure and danger.
Add Power Armor, Deathclaws, and multiple factions battling for control, and you get a compelling new Fallout experience. While fan mods have explored this idea, Donovan hopes Bethesda would develop a full-fledged game set in London.

### Northeast United States
**Steve Tyminski, My Neck of the Woods**
Steve roots for the Northeast United States—specifically New Jersey and New York—as the next Fallout setting. Picture exploring areas around the George Washington Bridge, Empire State Building, Ellis Island, and the Statue of Liberty, all enduring the fallout aftermath.
This region offers diverse weather extremes, from scorching heat to icy winters, which could add new survival elements to gameplay. The densely populated region also provides a perfect chessboard for different factions, each with strong opinions on rebuilding society.
Steve thinks it would be fascinating to see the story unfold in his hometown area, filled with recognizable landmarks and a richly layered cultural backdrop.
