Apple is asking a federal appeals court to overturn a judge’s previous finding that it “willfully” ignored an order to let developers link to cheaper payment options outside the App Store.

Apple and Epic Games are headed back to court once again. This time, Apple is contesting the 2021 ruling that required it to allow external links to alternative, less expensive payment options.
Although the ruling was issued in 2021, it was not enforced until 2024. When Apple finally implemented a system to enable these external links, many developers who tried to use it found the process prohibitively complicated.
