Minnesota Vikings react after racist attacks

The Minnesota Vikings fell to the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, on Sunday. However, the Vikings had a chance to get the ball back to their offense and veteran quarterback Carson Wentz late in the game. Despite this opportunity, star Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown beat cornerback Isaiah Rodgers on a deep ball that ultimately sealed the win for Philadelphia.

After the game, Rodgers revealed that he received numerous racist remarks from fans who were disappointed in his performance. In response, the Vikings have officially addressed the issue.

“We support Isaiah and all players who, unfortunately, experience this type of ignorant and prejudicial behavior far too often, and we ask our fans to continue to fight to eliminate racism,” the team said in an official statement.

Fans quickly reacted to the statement on social media. One user wrote on Twitter, “The Packers fans who sent those messages need to be found and exposed for the cowards they truly are.” An Eagles fan added, “BIG BIG TIME RESPECT Minnesota Vikings for standing up for your players and a good person. Wish Rodgers and the Vikings good luck rest of season. See y’all in the playoffs. FLY EAGLES FLY.”

Another supporter commented, “Definitely gross. Doesn’t represent this fanbase at all. It’ll always be SKOL Vikes. But no room for this type of racist stuff in this league.”

Hopefully, the league sends a clear message to show that there is no place for this kind of disgusting behavior anywhere near the sport.
