Jeff Goldblum’s cozy tuxedo look features a puffer jacket and patent leather gloves

It finally feels like fall on the East Coast, and Jeff Goldblum is leaning into the season with his latest look—even if he’s trying it out first in LA.

The actor attended the 2025 Academy Museum Gala on Saturday night, wearing a striking black-and-white tuxedo designed by ERL, which kept him warmer than most. Seen on the red carpet with wife Emilie Livingston, Goldblum sported a pair of black wide-leg pants, a coordinated waistcoat, and a ruffled white shirt that would make men of the 1970s proud. He topped off the ensemble with a black puffer coat, patent leather gloves, and wraparound sunglasses.

Livingston chose a strapless pale yellow dress from Prada, accessorized with elegant Cartier jewelry.

Venice Beach-based designer Eli Russell Linnetz of ERL shared a few images of Goldblum on his Instagram, showcasing the look with and without the jacket. In one video, Goldblum even plays the piano. In each caption, Linnetz emphasizes, “ERL Artisanal continues its study of the modern American man as it explores tailoring, invention, and new conventions, rejecting norms for individual style in pursuit of new concepts and silhouettes.”

And that’s exactly what Goldblum has done with his latest look.

The “Wicked” actor has never been one to adhere to classic convention. From wearing printed silk shirts with his suits, opting for slim-fitting tuxedos, topping outfits with fur-trimmed capes, to adding the latest trend of antique brooches on his lapels, he consistently embraces bold style choices. He even appeared on the Prada Menswear runway in 2022, wearing a black overcoat with fur accents.

This ERL look perfectly aligns with the 72-year-old’s penchant for timeless-with-a-twist dressing. Though temperatures in LA have not quite dropped to puffer weather levels, Goldblum is clearly prepared for the winter season with this cozy, inventive take on traditional suiting.
