A 40-year-old woman was fatally wounded overnight as she exited a private bus on the South Side in the Fuller Park neighborhood, Chicago police said.
At approximately 12:40 a.m., the woman was getting off a private bus in the 5400 block of South Shields Avenue when someone inside the bus pulled out a gun and opened fire toward her.
She was hit in the right thigh and was immediately taken to UChicago Medicine, where she was pronounced dead.
No arrests have been made in connection with the fatal shooting, and detectives are actively investigating the incident.
