Bills Make Move to Keep Fan Favorite Linebacker After Release

The Buffalo Bills are currently enjoying some much-needed time off during their Week 7 bye. Considering how their last two games have unfolded, this break couldn’t have come at a better time for the team.

While the players are getting a breather, the front office hasn’t slowed down. Even without a game this week, they continue to tweak the roster. Earlier this month, the Bills promoted popular linebacker Jimmy Ciarlo from the practice squad to the active roster in an effort to strengthen their defense.

However, Ciarlo’s time on the active roster was short-lived. Earlier this week, he was released but didn’t stay a free agent for long. On Thursday, the Bills re-signed him to their practice squad, keeping him within the organization.

### Bills Re-Sign Jimmy Ciarlo to Practice Squad

After starting the season with an impressive 4-0 run, the Bills looked like a top contender in the NFL. But back-to-back losses to the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons brought their record to 4-2 heading into the bye week. While a 4-2 record isn’t poor by any means, the fact that the Patriots now hold the No. 1 seed in the AFC East highlights that Buffalo still has work to do.

The good news is there’s plenty of football left this season, providing opportunities for players to step up and make a difference.

For a short period, Jimmy Ciarlo emerged as one such player. Starting the year on the practice squad, he was promoted to the active roster before the game against the Patriots. Ciarlo made his NFL debut in that matchup and was inactive for the following game versus the Falcons.

On Tuesday, his stint on the active roster ended when the Bills released him. But Buffalo quickly brought him back on Thursday, re-signing him to the practice squad. The team confirmed the move on their official transactions page: “Signed LB Jimmy Ciarlo to the practice squad.”

### Bills Shift Focus to Week 8

As long as the Bills remain healthy, Ciarlo’s role may be limited moving forward. However, with linebacker Matt Milano continuing to face health challenges, there is an opportunity for Ciarlo to continue working hard behind the scenes. If called upon, he needs to be ready to answer the bell and contribute to the team’s success.

With the bye week giving the team time to regroup, the Bills are now turning their attention to the crucial Week 8 matchup and beyond.
