Bangladesh has officially announced their squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Afghanistan, set to take place in Abu Dhabi. The selection brings exciting updates, including the inclusion of batter Saif Hassan, who receives his first call-up to the ODI side. Additionally, Nurul Hasan makes a return to the national setup after a two-year hiatus. Both players have been consistent performers in domestic List-A competitions, earning their spots through solid performances.
**Player Performances and Squad Changes**
Saif Hassan’s recent form has been impressive. He made a comeback to the T20I squad in August against the Netherlands, showcasing his capabilities. Notably, during the Asia Cup, he played crucial innings scoring 61 and 69 runs in the Super Four matches against Sri Lanka and India, respectively. His performances have clearly caught the eyes of the selectors.
Nurul Hasan also made a significant impact last month with a match-winning unbeaten 23 off just 13 balls in the first T20I against Afghanistan, further justifying his recall.
On the other hand, Parvez Hossain Emon, who was part of the Bangladesh squad during the July series against Afghanistan, has been dropped from the current ODI squad. Another notable absence is Litton Das, who is still recovering from a side strain sustained during the Asia Cup and hence missed out on selection.
**Travel Challenges for Players**
Bangladesh’s preparations have faced some hurdles due to visa complications. Mohammad Naim, despite being named in the ODI squad, remains in Dhaka awaiting his UAE visa. Similarly, Soumya Sarkar, included in the T20I squad for the ongoing series, has been unable to travel to Sharjah for the same reason.
