Shyamkanu Mahanta, the organizer of the North East India Festival and an accused in the case related to Assamese singer Zubeen Garg’s death, has approached the Supreme Court.
He is seeking a transfer of the ongoing Assam Police probe to a central agency.

The federal probe agency has questioned former cricketers Suresh Raina, Shikhar Dhawan and Robin Uthappa apart from former TMC MP and actor Mimi Chakraborty and Bengali actor Ankush Hazra over the last few weeks as part of this investigation.
According to the FIR filed on September 27, the complainant, Zubair Ansari, 35, a resident of Goregaon East, supplies construction materials such as sand and stones, transporting them from Powai, Kurla, and MIDC along Filterpada-Royal Palm Road – a route also used by other contractors. Ansari often helps resolve issues faced by fellow contractors on this road.
