Heart-pounding video shows wild NYPD foot chase of armed suspect in the Bronx

A wild new NYPD video captures the moment officers chased down and arrested a 20-year-old man carrying a pair of loaded guns through the sidewalks and streets of the borough last week.

The 47th Precinct Quality of Life team responded to an alert of shots fired at 3800 Baychester Avenue around 5 a.m. on November 3. They soon spotted Victor Lyle walking out of a nearby park.

When one of the officers called out to him, “Come here real quick,” Lyle, dressed in a black vest and red sweat suit, suddenly broke into a sprint. “Chase him! Chase him!” an officer shouted as Lyle fled, with the officer’s bodycam footage showing a sped-up, all-out effort to catch the suspect.

The intense chase weaved from the sidewalk into the empty early-morning streets as Lyle tried to outpace the pursuing officer. After commanding him to “Drop it! Drop it now!” the officer caught up to Lyle after crossing a street and pushed him to the ground.

“He’s reaching! He’s reaching! Be careful, he’s got his gun in his pocket,” a cop could be heard yelling while multiple officers held Lyle down and placed cuffs on him. The officer who had run after Lyle was audible taking deep breaths once the chase ended.

But the drama didn’t end there. After turning Lyle over, the police shone a flashlight on his chest and unzipped his vest, revealing not one, but two illegal loaded guns inside his pockets. The officers promptly confiscated both firearms.

“That’s two,” an officer can be heard saying, counting the guns Lyle had on him.

Both weapons were recovered, and Lyle was charged with weapons possession, possession of an ammunition feeding device, obstruction of government administration, and resisting arrest. Authorities also noted that he had no prior arrests.
