13 things you probably didn’t know about Battlefield 6

Neat Things You Didn’t Know About Battlefield 6

There’s a lot going on in Battlefield 6—from its classes, their abilities and equipment, to weapons, vehicles, and destruction. But did you know there are also tons of little details that can make your life easier or otherwise improve your experience? We’re cataloging as many of these as we can find here.

These details won’t change how you play Battlefield 6, but most make playing it more enjoyable and, sometimes, more immersive.

Pull Out Your Class Gadget or Knife to Run Faster

If you’ve ever seen teammates running out of spawn or toward an objective with their knife out, there’s a reason: you run about 10-15% faster while holding a knife or most class gadgets such as the Repair Tool and Defibrillator. However, this melee speed boost does not apply when you’re using the sledgehammer.

You run faster with both the default knife and the one you get for completing the campaign. So, provided you’re sure it’s safe, pulling out your knife or gadget will get you where you’re going much faster—though, of course, you are vulnerable if you encounter an enemy with a gun.

Holding Down the Defib Paddle Until It Beeps Revives Teammates at Full Health

You can quickly press the defib button to revive downed teammates, but they’ll come back at only 50% health. Holding down the defib use button for a few seconds until you hear a high-pitched beep will revive them at 100% health, ensuring they’re as ready for a fight as possible.

Note that Support players can drag revive twice as fast as other classes, and dragging also revives at full health. However, neither revive method reloads your teammate’s weapons—so if their gun is empty, that could quickly become a problem.

Shooting Enemy Tanks in the Back Armor Does Much More Damage

Every type of tank has weaker armor in the rear, which takes double damage from any launcher that can hit it. For the best results, use the RPG-7V2, as it has the highest raw DPS in the game. Check out our detailed guide on how to destroy tanks for more tips.

You Can Overflow Your Default Gadget Inventory Using a Support Supply Bag

Running out of rockets before destroying an enemy vehicle can be frustrating as an Engineer. Standing next to a Support Supply Bag allows you to resupply beyond your starting gadget limit; for example, you can have up to five RPG shots or six mines.

This resupply mechanic applies to various class gadgets, including Assault grenade launchers and Recon C-4.

You Can Strap C-4 to a Recon Drone and Fly It Over to a Tank, Then Blow It Up

Once you unlock C-4 as a Recon, you can deploy your Recon Drone, attach explosives to it, and pilot it over an enemy tank to destroy it. The extra weight drains the drone’s battery quickly, limiting range, and there is a delay when exiting the drone before detonating the C-4, giving tanks time to escape. Timing is key, but obliterating tanks this way is always a hilarious moment.

You can also use the drone to detonate mines from a distance, though that is less fun.

There’s an Anti-Camper Button That Activates the Smokestack on Operation Firestorm

If you encounter Recon players camping at the top of the highest smokestack on Operation Firestorm, there is a built-in map mechanic to get them off. Near the base of the smokestack on the Conquest C flag, you’ll find a button labeled Warning Valve Purge. Pressing it causes the stack to spew massive gouts of fire, burning anything at the highest reaches to a crisp.

You Can Pick Up Your Supply Bag as a Support to Lower the Cooldown of Your Next One

The Supply Bag is one of the most powerful gadgets in Battlefield 6, but its default cooldown is quite long. However, if you interact with your own Supply Bag and pick it up before the cooldown ends, you’ll nearly clear the timer, allowing you to deploy it again much sooner. Always pick up your Supply Bag, whether you’re healing yourself or others.

You Can Resupply Off a Support Player’s Back

If your Support teammates rarely drop Supply Bags, don’t worry! You can run up to a Support player and interact with their character to get a one-time resupply without them dropping a bag.

You Can Destroy Enemy Equipment with a Recon Drone

If you fly your Recon Drone within 40 meters of enemy equipment such as Deploy Beacons, Mines, or Target Designators, you can target and destroy them by pressing the Fire button. Destroying mines or other lethal equipment will cause explosions that can kill nearby enemy players. Kudos to Jackfrags for showcasing this handy detail.

You Can Move Slowly in a Tank to Avoid Activating Mines

When driving a tank, hold down the Crawl command (shown at the bottom of your screen) to move slowly. Moving at this reduced speed prevents you from setting off mines, keeping your vehicle safer on the battlefield.

You Can Destroy Vehicles with the Sledgehammer

The sledgehammer can damage vehicles, much like destructible parts of the environment. While the damage is minimal, you might catch an oblivious tank or truck driver off guard. This works on jets and helicopters as well, but without a wingsuit in Battlefield 6, sledging air vehicles isn’t very practical—yet.

If You’re on Fire, Go Prone to Put It Out

If someone throws an incendiary grenade at you or you catch fire otherwise, diving prone will extinguish the flames. Battlefield Studios took fire safety seriously—stop, drop, and “roll” indeed.

Shoot the Concrete Tube and Crane Counterweight to Drop Them on Mirak Valley

On the Mirak Valley map, you can bring down the crane between the C and D Conquest points, along with the concrete cylinder hanging from it. Shooting a single rocket or plenty of bullets will bring down the concrete cylinder, while dropping the crane takes two rockets or sustained fire. Both are lethal to anyone unfortunate enough to be beneath when they fall.

These are the neat little things we could find that you probably didn’t know about Battlefield 6. We’ll continue adding more as we progress further in the game!
