New Movies to Stream (Nov. 10-16)

Richard Linklater’s homage to the French New Wave, “Nouvelle Vague,” debuts on Netflix Friday, Nov. 14. This black-and-white film, shot in French and styled in the Academy ratio like Jean-Luc Godard’s “Breathless,” captures the spirit of an iconic era. Associated Press film critic Jake Coyle praises it as “endlessly stylish and almost absurdly uncanny.”

Also streaming Wednesday, Nov. 12, on Disney+ is “Freakier Friday,” a sequel to the 2003 hit starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan. The mother-daughter body swap comedy delivers an amiable, joyful reunion, though reviewer Jocelyn Noveck notes it closely follows the original’s plot and ups the comedic chaos, sometimes to a distracting degree.

Horror auteur Ari Aster’s latest film, “Eddington,” set in a fictional New Mexico town during the coronavirus pandemic, explores contemporary societal divides through a tense narrative starring Joaquin Phoenix as sheriff and Pedro Pascal as mayor. The film is described as an “anti-escapist symphony” addressing controversial issues head-on.

On Apple TV+ Friday, Nov. 14, Ryan White’s documentary “Come See Me in the Good Light” offers a heartfelt look at two poets, Andrea Gibson (who passed away in July) and Megan Falley, as they face an incurable cancer diagnosis together. The film balances difficult subject matter with warmth and affirmation.

New Music Releases (Nov. 10-16)

Australian pop-rockers 5 Seconds of Summer return with their sixth studio album, “Everyone’s a Star!,” out Friday, Nov. 14. The band embraces humor and candor, with tracks ranging from the Prodigy-like “Not OK” to the self-aware “Boy Band,” signaling a fun and fresh creative phase following solo projects.

R&B and neo-soul singer Summer Walker drops her third album, “Finally Over It,” also on Nov. 14. The final installment of her “Over It” trilogy centers on themes of transformation and autonomy, exemplified in the dreamy single “Heart of A Woman,” which mixes personal disappointment with profound self-awareness.

Rapper NF (Nate Feuerstein), a chart-topping artist known for crossing over from Christian rap to mainstream success, releases a six-track EP titled “Fear” on Friday, Nov. 14. New Series to Stream (Nov. 10-16)

Apple TV+ returns with the star-studded “Palm Royale,” a campy and colorful series set in late-1960s Palm Beach high society. The cast includes Kristen Wiig, Laura Dern, Allison Janney, and Carol Burnett. Wiig stars as Maxine, a woman desperate for social acceptance. The first episode streams Wednesday, Nov. 12, with weekly episodes through January.

“Surviving Mormonism with Heather Gay” premieres Wednesday, Nov. 12, on Peacock. The reality star and former “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” cast member explores her journey from devout Mormon to leaving the church, interviewing others who have left the faith as well.

Netflix debuts the limited series thriller “The Beast in Me” on Thursday, Nov. 13, starring Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys. Danes plays a Pulitzer Prize-winning writer who becomes engrossed in the life of her enigmatic neighbor, a real estate tycoon possibly linked to his first wife’s death. Howard Gordon, known for “Homeland,” serves as showrunner and executive producer.

Prime Video’s new thriller “Malice” drops all six episodes Friday, Nov. 14. David Duchovny stars as Jamie, a wealthy vacationer in Greece who hires a charming yet sinister tutor, played by Jack Whitehall. As tension rises, dark secrets emerge in this suspenseful tale.

“Martin Scorsese Presents: The Saints” returns to Fox Nation Sunday, Nov. 16, with a new season premiering with the story of Saint Patrick. Scorsese serves as executive producer, host, and narrator for this passion project.

The second season of “Landman” premieres Sunday, Nov. 16, on Paramount+. Created by Taylor Sheridan and set in modern Texas’s oil industry, the show features new cast members Sam Elliott and Andy Garcia alongside returning star Demi Moore.

New Video Games (Nov. 10-16)

The latest entry in the popular franchise, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, launches Friday, Nov. 14, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Set in 2035, this first-person shooter promises a “reality-shattering” single-player campaign exploring the human psyche, plus 16 multiplayer maps and a zombie mode for nonstop action.

Love puzzle games with a visual and auditory twist? “Lumines Arise” by Enhance Games arrives Tuesday, Nov. 12, on PlayStation 5 and PC.
